Background

Dr. Alvarenga, who is italo-costa rican, has an extensive training in the field of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. As soon as the doctor received his medical degree from Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) in 2002, Costa Rica, he started working as a physician assistant in the E.R. of the Max Peralta Hospital, which is part of the Costa Rica Social Security Fund (CCSS). A couple of years later he traveled to Mexico to train for four years to get his degree in General Surgery from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in 2008. During the preparation stage as a general surgeon, Dr. Alvarenga specialized in bariatric surgery cases, theme which he developed in the XV International Congress of Endoscopic Surgery.

After obtaining his first degree graduate, he continued studying from 2008 to 2011 and earned his second degree from UNAM, this time in Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery from the UNAM. During his specialty, Dr. Alvarenga dictated symposia on the treatment to follow in burn patients and had training in plastic surgery, hand reconstruction, cleft lip and palate, breast reconstruction, ear reconstruction and vascular microsurgery, among others.

In 2011, Dr. Alvarenga worked as a physician assistant for the Plastic Surgery Service at Hospital Juárez in Mexico. Upon completion of its work in the Juarez Hospital, he performed a rotation in the Mexican Institute of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Dr. Abel de la Peña then, Dr. Alvarenga moved to Brazil for training in "body contouring and buttocks" with his former professor, Dr. Raul Gonzalez.

From 2012 Dr. Alvarenga moved to Costa Rica where he works both in private practice and for the Calderón Guardia Hospital (CCSS).
